I am a UK based abstract artist, living and working in Guildford, Surrey.

My paintings explore the juxtaposition of opposing form, the fluidity of nature against the built environment, chaos versus structure, searching for the right balance whilst maintaining a sense of tension.

A combination of two or three colours or forms are my starting point, after which the composition evolves. I work intuitively, building layers, adding, removing and shaping. My paintings need to have a sense of having lived, evolving through their many layers. The most satisfying progress often comes from taking big risks, with the final composition tending to reveal itself at unexpected moments.

My childhood was spent in France (Paris and the Yvelines) and involved regular visits to Paris art collections and to Giverny, home of Claude Monet. An early education in 19th and 20th Century impressionist and abstract art!

Returning in adulthood to my family’s roots in Surrey after several years working and living in London and periods of painting and drawing in Sussex and the Bahamas, I now work out of my studio in Guildford and exhibit in the South East.
